Cherry's head smells funny!

We were all sitting it the living room one day, I was in my chair, and the wife was in hers, along with two of Sharon's children who sat on the old, saggy couch. Amanda, one of Sharon's daughters was busy playing with Cherry Girl, that irresistible little Toy-Jack Russell. As she petted and torments this simply lovely little girl, Amanda picked Cherry up and nuzzled Cherry to her face, to feel the softness of this cute little animals fur upon her face.

As Amanda rubbed Cherry's warm body all over her face, suddenly Amanda's face turned to one of disgust. Her nose wrinkles up and her eyes rolled down her nose. "What stinks?" asked Amanda as she outstretched her arms, holding the puppy far away from her face.

I smiled and chuckled, everyone looked at me as if I was going to tell them that I passed gas. "Did you fart?" Asked Amanda. "nope," I replied as I watched Amanda go back to snuggling with Cherry. Amanda was holding the dogs face against hers, then she suddenly burst out in shrieking tone of voice, "It's Cherry's head that stinks!" Amanda quickly placed the dog on the floor and shooed her way.

Again I burst out in laugher, not just a chuckle but a full-blown, belly gigglin' laugh. Sharon asked "what's wrong with you?" And as soon as I could catch my breath, I explained, "See, every since I can remember taking the dogs for a walk together, Chewy has always done one thing and Cherry has always done something quite strange." "And that is?" asked Amanda. So I proceeded to tell the story, it goes something like this.

Chewy Dog, being the boy in our family will lift his leg to every object we encounter on our trip around the block. As we got Cherry Girl at a very young age, she was quite small and could almost walk underneath Chewy. Every time we'd stop, both Cherry and Chewy would check the 'pee-mail,' standing side-by-side to sniff up the aroma left by other dogs on their daily trips to the park. Now what happens next is the strange part…

While Cherry is still standing, nose going to the hilt sniffing in all the good smells, Chewy will lift his leg, and yes you guessed… he's pee on Cherry's head! At first I had no idea it was even happening, as this was a fairly busy road and I was occupied with passing traffic. As time passed, I noticed this happen a lot more often than I did in the beginning. I have tried to pull Chewy away from peeing on Cherry's head, but he looks at me as if I have insulted him by not letting him complete his message to fellow passersby.

As time has passed, Cherry has gotten smarter about standing in the 'stream' of things. She waits till he's done and then checks everything, saving her from receiving those things she dreads, bath time. Now I have given these dogs loads of baths, bubbles, the works, but I still cannot get that little runt of a dog to hold her head still enough for me to wash it thoroughly.
